Hel Spit

The Hel Spit [1] it is peninsula about 35km long on East part of Polish coast - between big gulf of Gdansk, smaller Puck Lagoon and Baltic sea. Its' narrow base [2] close to regular land (near Władysławowo) is still eroded by sea. Only end of the spit is wider one, where accumulation still occurs.
Whole peninsula is covered by small villages, not so far restricted for mass tourism - caused by special military zones. Along spit there is only one road and train track. Many parts of the spit are endangered by flood during strong storm surges. Eroded dunes and beach are nourished and protected by groins.
